The first batch is made, and resting. I had a glass last night and it was good. It is a great tool. It took about 5 min to zest the lemons for the 2nd batch, using everclear instead of vodka. I can't wait to try that out...

We all went on a hike to celebrate the first day of spring. What a great day for a trip to Vikingsholm. Everyone had a good time! Full album here.

I bought and watched Under the Tuscan Sun a few weeks back. And while it's an enjoyable movie, there appeared, for a few seconds of screen time, a new obsession of mine. Limoncello. In the movie, a character describes the process of making a lemon based liquor. While it sounded intriguing, and fired up the old "brewmaster" memory cells, I filed a mental note and left it at that.
A couple of weeks later, I was watching the movie again, this time while listening to the commentary, and decided to find this "Limoncello." Several phone calls and google searches later, turns out Ben's liqours in Reno sells 2 varieties. It ain't cheap, but my oh my is it good.... The two varieties sold here are Toschi, and Villa Massa. Villa Massa is by far the better of the two, and it's only a couple of dollars more...
Here's an interesting drink, coined "Limonata":
1/2 cup Limoncello
1 can San Pelligrino Limonata (Yum!)
Mix and enjoy!
VODKA (GIN,TEQUILA or RUM) MILANO
Fill short glass with ice
Pour 1.5 oz. of vodka (gin, tequila or rum)
Fill glass with 5.5 oz. of Limonata
Garnish with Lemon

I haven't yet seen the movie, and my own religious views aside, I think that some of the merchandise for this movie isn't borderline "tacky", it's way over on the other side...

Of course, I am a tacky guy, and it would be an interesting "icebreaker".... [more]

Formulaic? Yes. Predictable? Yes. Kickass? Hell Yes. This is a fun movie that took me back to my teen years - I remember when Jim Mcdougal bought "Back in Black" on vinyl, and we had to tell his mom that it was mine... That album kicked ass. Still does... Any Movie that uses the Ramones in the soundtrack is alright by me. There is nothing not to like in this movie - Jables is great, the kids are great, Joan Cusack is great. The only thing that could have put this movie one notch higher would have been a cameo by KG. Ah well. Buy it, rent it, enjoy it. and ROCK ON!
